Listen to Your Heart
Roseneath’s 2025-26 Season, LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, takes young audiences on a journey of self-discovery with three touring productions that invite audiences to listen to your heart. Our season opens with one of our founder’s, Robert Morgan, directing MORGAN’S JOURNEY (grades K-4) which is the one person show that started our company. Using clown this piece is a captivating exploration of joyous yet challenging childhood experiences where Morgan learns a valuable and moving lesson about love and the true meaning of friendship. Then for Black History/Futures Month we will be touring THE FLIGHT (grades 7-12) written and performed by Beryl Bain. A captivating telling of the Bessie Coleman story, the first black person to earn an international pilot licence back in the 1920s. For our spring elementary production we see the return of LADIES AND GENTLEMEN BOYS AND GIRLS (grades 4-8) by Dave Deveau, our play that follows the story of a young person on their gender journey and how their family struggles but ultimately supports them. So help your students listen to their heart and connect with these excellent stories by inviting us to perform in your community!

Morgan's Journey
by Robert Morgan
starring Morgan St. Onge
NOVEMBER 2025
Morgan's Journey has been delighting children and their families around the world for nearly three decades. From the moment of her birth, we follow Morgan the Clown on a journey of discovery. We delight in the presents she receives, especially her last one, a wise sock puppet who becomes her companion. Encountering inevitable growing pains, Morgan learns a valuable and moving lesson about love and the true meaning of friendship. The play offers audiences a unique opportunity for active participation. Morgan's Journey, originally created by Robert Morgan and director David S. Craig, launched Roseneath Theatre in 1983 and we’re excited for Robert Morgan to direct Dora-nominated performer Morgan St. Onge in this new production. Morgan's Journey won the prestigious Chalmer’s Canadian Play Award for Outstanding Play and has rightly earned the description of “a true Canadian classic” being the longest-running touring play in Canadian history with over 40 years of performances.

Grades 4-8
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls
by Dave Deveau
MARCH/APRIL 2026
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls follows the story of 9-year-old Fiona who comes out as a boy and wants to be called Fin. Fin has always had this feeling – knowing something is different but not knowing what it was or how to say it. As Fin cuts his hair short and changes his name, his family works to understand and adjust to Fin’s gender identity. Dad is accepting of the change right away, but Mom doesn’t quite get it at first. Always from a place of good intentions, we see Fin’s family struggle with this change and through the course of the play ultimately begin to accept and embrace Fin for who he is.

Grades 7-12
The Flight
by Beryl Bain
FEBRUARY 2026
The Flight, a new work by acclaimed theatre artist Beryl Bain, explores the ground-breaking life of aviation pioneer Bessie Coleman – the first African-American woman and the first Native-American to hold an international pilot’s license. Rising above economic obstacles and social barriers in the Roaring ’20s, she earned the nickname “Brave Bessie” and even her dreams were quite literally sky high. From flight school in Paris to spectacular barnstorming shows, Bessie dazzled audiences with her bravery, beauty, and technological mastery. The Flight evokes Bessie’s unshakable optimism, her determination, her vision, and the indomitable self confidence that led her to soar above the clouds, reaching ever closer to the sun.
