Taking Care of
Each Other

Roseneath’s 2026-27 Season offers young audiences and the adults who care for them three productions that explore the theme of Taking Care of Each Other. In a time where othering has divided society, Roseneath’s 43rd season invites young people to consider how we support each other through a deeper understanding of our situations and allowing ourselves to consider another point of view than our own.

Our first production is a remount of our successful co-production with Black Theatre Workshop (Montreal) called Taking Care of Maman/Prendre Soin de Mom by Djennie Laguerre for grades 4-8. This funny and touching piece explores how two completely different generations develop a supportive and lasting relationship during the hardest time of the pandemic. In the second half of our season we will be touring The Everlasting Friendship of Billy & Bink by Will Parry for grades K-4. Through song and playful story telling this play focuses on Billy (puppet) and Bink (human) who are the best of friends and have to overcome a conflict that ultimately makes their friendship stronger. Rounding out our season in the spring of 2027 is a world premiere production of Roadkill by Paula Wing for grades 7-12 audiences in the Greater Toronto Area. This compelling new play explores the ripple effects of violence on those in a community who weren’t part of the violence directly, but are still completely changed by what happened.

Please join us to explore how we support and embrace our individual and collective differences and challenges in Taking Care of Each Other.

It’s a sunny day like any other where we meet Billy (puppet) and Bink (human) who are brothers and the best of friends. They do everything together, like wearing matching outfits and eating the same foods, and they always try their best. They are here to tell us a story together and they need your help. When Billy posts a video without Bink on PicPok, the two besties need to work through their feelings - sometimes through song - to share with us their story of everlasting friendship.

Tee is angry, and she has a right to be. Because of what happened, her brother is in prison, and life is nothing but hard. Everywhere she turns, there are rules that make no sense. Today, Tee has finally gathered the courage to visit her brother. The visit has her mind flashing back to what happened, and what it has done to everyone around her. In this punchy and necessary story, we explore hard feelings: those that come when you cannot control what's happening, dealing with anger, and finding a way to get through it.

Digital_Dialogues

Discover our curated series of Digital Dialogues, where you and your students can engage with a pre-recorded performance focusing on a host of topics from our esteemed repertoire of playwrights, actors, and directors. These sessions offer flexible viewing options: enjoy the show together as a class, let students watch independently on their devices, or assign it as homework.

Following the viewing, we will arrange an interactive talk-back session with one of the creators via Zoom, Google Meet, or Callbridge. This live Q&A provides a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the creative process, fostering a richer understanding and appreciation of the arts.
