The view from the belly of the tree monster – A communique from James the Puppeteer

Puppeteer James' view from inside the tree

Puppeteer James’ view from inside the tree

As the Puppeteer I have an interesting vantage point on each performance of Dib & Dob. From inside the tree I can only see vague shadows of Daniel (Dib) and Colin (Dob) as they perform, and it’s different with the changing lighting of every space we perform in. I depend almost entirely on the fabulously consistent musical and sound effect cues provided by our Stage Manager, Sandi, and the always astonishing and exciting vocal performances of Colin and Daniel. Being 3 weeks into the tour I have had the delight of hearing a wide variety of audience responses at the many schools and stages we have performed at thus far. It’s always intriguing to hear at what points in the show audiences always respond, and then, on occasion, when there is a totally unexpected reaction.

The schools we visited in London were very good to us, and many of them even sent along lists of additional questions about the production which were fun to answer. Looking forward to seeing more of Ontario as we head North this week, and having a blast on the road with Dib & Dob and the Journey Home. #gallery-3 { margin: auto; } #gallery-3 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-3 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-3 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
